| Our
external cladding system has been developed over a number of years to meet the particular
requirements of the Scottish climate. Used in conjunction with our interlocking log
systems the composite wall construction retains the "breathing wall"
capabilities of single log while enabling us to meet the highest insulation requirements.
By
positioning the insulation on the outside of the log walls we reduce thermal stresses on
the main load bearing structure. The cladding system also provides an opportunity to
incorporate gaskets and flashings to meet the demands of even the most severely exposed
sites.
A
lightweight non-loadbearing frame is fixed to the log structure using specially
manufactured brackets. The space between the studs is filled with insulation and a
breather membrane attached to the frame. A vented cavity behind the external
cladding log provides additional weather protection.
The system
has been developed to allow the use of a variety of insulating materials, from rigid
boards to blown cavity fill, giving us the flexibility to meet not only current, but also
future standards required by Building Regulations.
Where
projects involve the extension or conversion of existing log structures the system can be
adapted to provide additional insulation and weather protection to the original walls.
As the system is fitted externally internal disruption is kept to a minimum and
existing room sizes are maintained. |
