All
our log sections, cladding logs, and boarding is machined at our works in
Aberdeenshire. We also produce all our own profiled cutting blocks necessary to mill
the different sections. This ensures dimensional consistency and enables us to
manufacture one off profiles to order, allowing us to produce special mouldings to enhance
individual projects.
We
manufacture four log thicknesses 34mm, 44mm, 70mm, and 96mm. The smaller sections
are double tongued and grooved, the 96mm triple tongued and grooved. Two standard
cladding logs are available 20mm and 34mm.
The 34mm and
44mm log sections are generally used for smaller buildings; Summer houses, garden chalets,
home offices etc. The larger 70mm and 96mm logs for homes, commercial and leisure
projects.
As the solid
log walls are load bearing, structural requirements generally dictate the minimum section
which can be used for a specific project.
All timber
is kiln dried prior to machining to minimise future shrinkage. After all machining
has been carried out the timber is treated under vacuum / pressure with a wood
preservative, enhancing its natural durability. |
